How to Type Roman Numbers in MS Word

 

On your MS Word window, navigate to the Home tab in the Ribbon and click on the Number Library drop-down menu. Then, select the Roman numeral option in the selection. Voila! You’ve just inserted Roman numerals as a list style in MS Word.

How do you type Roman numerals on keyboard?
Press and hold the Alt key on your keyboard. With the Alt key still held, press X on your keyboard. As soon as you do so, the Unicode character you typed in will be converted into its corresponding Roman numeral.

Roman numerals are written in additive and subtractive notation. Additive notation means that the individual values in a Roman numeral are added together to get the total value. In the case of VIII you add up the values for V and three I’s. V is 5 and I is 1, so 5+1+1+1 = 8.
