Windows 10 Old Wallpaper
The May 2019 Update for Windows 10 includes a new, brighter default desktop background. It looks fantastic—especially with the new light theme. If you choose the dark theme in Windows 10, you’ll probably prefer a darker background.
Surprisingly, the original desktop wallpaper of Windows 10 has been removed from the current edition of Windows 10. It must be downloaded from the internet or copied from an older Windows 10 PC.
We couldn’t find this wallpaper image hosted by Microsoft anywhere, but you may get it elsewhere. Imgur has a 4K copy of Windows 10’s original desktop wallpaper. Different sizes, as well as more of Windows 10’s default wallpapers, are available for download. (Other Windows 10 wallpapers are available here from Microsoft, but not the original Windows 10 wallpaper.)
Simply right-click the image file on Imgur and save it to your computer using your browser—in Chrome, choose “Save Image As.”
If you have a computer running an older version of Windows 10, you can also save a copy of the desktop wallpaper. Just head to C:\Windows\Web\4K\Wallpaper\Windows to find the background files in a variety of resolutions. The “img0_3840x2160.jpg” file is the 4K version.
Save it to OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Device, a USB drive, a network file sharing, or email it to yourself—whatever method you like. Transfer it to your new computer.
When you’ve downloaded or copied the image to your PC, right-click it and choose “Set as Desktop Wallpaper” to make it your system’s desktop background.
You may alternatively go to Settings > Personalization > Background and search for the wallpaper image on your system using the “Browse” button.
More free desktop backdrops can be found in the Windows Themes section of the Microsoft Store. Of course, you may download an image from any place on the internet and use it as your desktop wallpaper—just make sure it has a high enough resolution or it will appear ugly when extended to occupy the entire screen of your computer.
